Biographical Sketch of J. Michael Walker (1951-2008)

Dr. J. Michael Walker of Bloomington, Indiana died 5 January 2008 at the age of 57 years. Dr. Walker was born on 14 August 1950 in Pelham, Georgia; he was the son of Edwin M. and Kathleen Donovan Walker. He was reared in South Bend, Indiana. 

Dr. Walker  received his bachelorís degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1974. 
He received his Ph.D. in psychology at the Ohio State University in 1979 under the tutelage of Professor Curt A. Sandman. He then pursued post-doctoral studies at the Mental Health Research Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He joined the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Brown University in 1983 where he later became Department Chair. Dr. Walker returned to Indiana University in 2004 where he served as the Linda and Jack Gill Chair of Neuroscience, Director of the Gill Center for Biomolecular Science, and Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
